The search is on for the next Smart Home family, giving all you guys out there the opportunity to test the energy and water savings technologies, the BlueGen and loads of other awesome stuff to come!
The successful family will live in the Smart Home rent-free for 18 months. In exchange for this unique opportunity, the family will be expected to share their experiences in the home with the media, on this blog and through Facebook and Twitter.
The information gathered during the Smart Home family’s time in the house will provide important information about the way we use energy and water in the future.
As Newington residents, the next Smart Home family will participate in the Smart Grid, Smart City project, testing innovative new technologies and products along with 1000′s of other households in Newcastle, Sydney and the Hunter.

What an interesting experience! I have followed your blog with interest over the last 12 months or so.. am especially interested as we are fellow Newington residents.
We have applied to be the next Smart Home family.. I think my 3 year old is more excited than anyone – he keeps asking if he can drive the electric car!!

We have sent out our application form and can’t wait to hear if we are the lucky family! We are not local to the area however, the kids’ grand parents live nearby so we are familiar with Newington and it’s surroundings. The kids are excited about living closer to their grand-parents and the opportunity to trial new technologies and live in a sustainable home is exciting to us all. Fingers crossed for the Barac family!!

That’s the part I’m least looking forward to. Am going to miss the SUV baby.
On the positive side the kids will be super excited to be close to mum and dad.
